THE ARTS
The Arts at Saint Paschal Baylon School inspire creativity, confidence, and faith through music, drama, and performance opportunities for every student.
MUSIC
Music at Saint Paschal Baylon School is a joyful and integral part of student life.
Through weekly instruction and meaningful performance opportunities, students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade develop musical skills, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the arts while using their voices to praise God and enrich our faith-filled community.
Every SPBS student participates in weekly Music classes (approximately one hour each week) throughout the academic year. Our comprehensive curriculum introduces students to:
-
Music theory (treble and bass clefs, rhythm, accidentals, and terminology)
-
Music History and Music Appreciation
-
Vocal technique and confident performance skills
Students prepare and sing liturgical music for weekly Friday morning school Masses, and work toward two cherished, all-school performances each year:
-
SPBS Christmas Concert
-
Spring Sing

SPBS offers a thriving School Choir for students in Grades 3–8, with an advanced ensemble, the Harmony Squad, for selected singers. Choir members sing regularly at school Masses and special events.
-
Rehearsals: Wednesday and Thursday mornings
-
Location: SPBS Music Room
The program is led by Jim Leslie, a highly accomplished Music & Choir Director with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, professional performance experience, and classical guitar training under the legendary Andrés Segovia. Students also have access to on-site after-school music lessons (guitar, piano, ukelele, and drums) in small-group settings for a reasonable fee.
CO-CURRICULUR OPPORTUNITIES
Arts Enrichment
In addition to Music and Drama, SPBS offers a wide range of arts-enriched and co-curricular opportunities, including:
