The Saint Paschal Baylon School (SPBS) Extended Care program offers at a reasonable rate: supervised after-school outside play time; homework/study time; crafts / projects; varied, structured lessons/programs from outside vendors for an additional fee; and snacks for students currently enrolled in SPBS. SPBS Extended Care operates Monday – Friday, excluding school holidays, from 2:30 – 6:00 p.m. (or starting at Noon on half-days). Students capable of completing homework independently may participate in SPBS Study Hall, which is held in the school Library, after checking-in at Extended Care. Study Hall is coordinated and supervised daily by our Librarian.

Extended Care Goals
• Provide a safe, nurturing and caring environment for the students enrolled in our school after regular school hours
• Provide structured play and learning times
• Provide an environment, embracing the philosophy of SPBS, where Christian/Catholic values are foremost, and the social and personal needs of the children are met
In order to maintain a safe environment for all our students after regular school hours, Kindergartners who are attending Extended Care will be released to an Extended Care staff member by their classroom teacher after their classes end; and students in Grades 1-8 are to go immediately to the designated sign-in area on the school patio after pick-up concludes, or when instructed to do so by a member of the SPBS Faculty/Staff. Any students not participating in supervised SPBS extra-curricular activities must be signed-into Extended Care or under direct parental supervision at all times while at SPBS after 2:45 p.m. Any SPBS student at school after 2:45 p.m., who does not meet the above criteria, will be automatically signed into Extended Care by the Extended Care Coordinators or SPBS staff members, and parents will be billed accordingly for the time spent in Extended Care. SPBS provides two Extended Care Coordinators Monday-Friday on school days, except as noted on the SPBS Calendar.
Hours of Operation
The SPBS Extended Care Program hours are from dismissal of school until 6:00 p.m. beginning the first day of school. The program is closed the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, the Friday that the annual Fall Fest begins in October, the day school closes for Christmas break and Easter break, and there is no Extended Care on the last day of school in June.
Note: Extended Care staff members are employed by SPBS until 6:00 p.m. Please be courteous and respect this time of closure by making sure your child(ren) are picked-up by this time. (See "Late Fee" under Billing/Fees section below.)
Parents or Guardians may not take children who are in Extended Care from the schoolyard or other areas, without notifying the Extended Care staff. The parents must personally sign-out their child(ren), once they have been signed-into Extended Care. The students will only be released to those adults whose names are on file as authorized family representatives.
Billing / Fees
Extended Care begins at 2:30 p.m. (noon on First Fridays) for all students, unless the students are in a school-sponsored activity. Billing begins at 2:30 p.m., regardless of whether your child actually checks into Extended Care at 2:30 p.m. or later. Extended Care is then billed in half hour increments, EXCEPT that there is a minimum one-hour charge. After the first hour, billing is by the half hour.
Regular Rate/Pre-Pay Rate
One Child: $5.00/hour $4.50/hour
Two Children: $8.00/hour $6.50/hour
Three Children: $10.00/hour $8.50/hour
Late Pick Up Fee: $1.00 per minute after 6:00 p.m.
Families may save money and pay the lower “pre-pay rate” by estimating their usage of extended care and sending a check into the office before the end of each month. Families must have paid in advance to receive the reduced "pre pay" rate.
Extended Care at SPBS is offered to students on as "as needed" basis, and parents are only billed for the time their child spends in Extended Care on any given day.
All Extended Care payments are handled through the school office. Questions should be referred to SPBS Accounts Manager, Mrs. Priscilla Harding, at extension 127. Extended Care billing will be sent from the school office to families at the end of each month, along with a statement of your account.
