Student safety is a top priority at SPBS. Measures include secure campus entry points and monitoring systems, well-practiced emergency and crisis response plans, regular faculty training in emergency preparedness, Safe Environment (VIRTUS) training and fingerprinting for all employees and volunteers, and strong collaboration with local law enforcement. The school's Saint Michael's Group security council actively evaluates safety practices and provides additional security at public events

Yes. SPBS has an active Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and families are highly engaged, 95% of families volunteer, contributing over 6,000 volunteer hours last school year. Each family is expected to contribute 40 volunteer hours per year (10 of which may be parish-related). Unfulfilled hours are billed at $30/hour. Families also participate in fundraising through events like Fall Fest, Jog-a-thon, and the School Gala/Auction. All volunteers working with children must be VIRTUS trained by the Safeguard the Children office at the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The VIRTUS Certification is valid for four years, then a re-certification course must be completed. Additionally, volunteers must be fingerprinted by the ADLA LiveScan office.
