Accelerated Math
Accelerated Mathematics is offered to students who meet prescribed criteria, in grades seven and eight. These classes are a fast paced, hands-on approach
which relates the application of mathematical concepts to real life.
The Pre-Algebra class is taught at the seventh-grade level and covers topics from all branches of mathematics including geometry, statistics, and trigonometry.
Algebra 1 is an eighth-grade course exploring the mathematical
modeling of linear, exponential, and quadratic functions, as
well as systems of equations, rational expressions, and polynomials.

Both courses incorporate practical units such as "Cooking With Fractions", and a fire-fighting unit, involving members of the Ventura County Fire Department: Algebra on Fire.
Field trips to the local supermarket also provide a forum for real-life applications of sales tax, proportions, and unit rate.
