Library
The
Saint Paschal Baylon School library is staffed by a full-time librarian,
a part-time library aide, and numerous parent volunteers. Our library
coordinates the school-wide, software-based Reading
Renaissance program, also known as Accelerated Reader, which
helps promote high level critical thinking skills and an increased
enjoyment in reading for our students. In addition, all classes
attend Library Science each week, and may check out any of over
9,000 books through our automated check-out system.
Our beautiful school library was completely renovated during the summer of 2006, thanks to funds raised at our GALA 2006, and features five student-use computers as well as a fully stocked reference section. Study hall is provided in the library Monday through Fridays after school for students able to work independently. Peer Math Tutoring is provided for students in grades 5-8 on Mondays and Wednesdays in the library as well.
The SPBS library is truly an integral part of our curriculum for all grades, K-8. We are blessed to have such a fantastic resource for our students.
Twice each year, in the Fall and Spring, the SPBS library sponsors two Scholastic Book Fairs. All proceeds from the Book Fairs are used to purchase new library inventory, and help defray costs.
