Kindergarten

Kindergarten performance at Mother's Day ServiceKindergarten is the first step in a Catholic education at SPBS. The children learn to know Jesus as a friend. They learn about the Bible, and God’s many gifts and promises each week. Our class of 32 students attends Mass each Friday with the whole school.

As our children learn about Jesus, they grow and develop friendships. They learn what it means to be a friend, and how to share and care for others, in a nurturing classroom environment overseen by our experienced, credentialed teacher and a full-time teacher’s aide.

We have a strong academic program based on the California State Standards. Our individualized program reaches children at different academic and developmental levels. Our students are well prepared for our first grade. We have a full-day kindergarten program, which runs from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Our students learn to read through Starfall, which is a phonics-based language program.

Kindergarten visiting the pumpkin patch We attend field trips, such as a visit to the pumpkin patch or the pet store, that enhance our academic curriculum. We use the school’s library and computer lab, and enjoy music, P.E., Spanish and art classes every week.

The children in Kindergarten at SPBS receive a well-rounded Catholic, academic, developmental, and standards-based education, which enhances their enthusiasm for learning.
