Meet Our Faculty

Mrs. Christina Baum, Homeroom
Language Arts 6th-8th

Dear SPBS 7th Grade,
It is a great honor to introduce myself, as I become a part of the wonderful tradition that is St. Paschal Baylon School.
My name is Mrs. Christina Baum, and I feel so blessed to have been hired by Mrs. Duffy to help carry on the educational excellence in your junior high. I am coming to you from a local Catholic elementary school, where I taught for seven years, and also served as the Seventh Grade Homeroom Teacher. I felt God calling me to make a change in my life, and I wanted to make the move here to SPBS. While I have taught many grade levels, I have worked exclusively with junior high students for the past five years as the Language Arts and Literature teacher. I have personally observed and heard great things about your school, so I am excited to now be able to bring my own innovative teaching style, curricular ideas, and energy to SPBS to teach your great junior high students.
I was born in Baldwin Park and raised in Ventura by my wonderful parents. Together with my grandparents, they instilled in me my core value that is Catholicism. While some of my seventeen years of past teaching experience was in the public school system, I was thrilled when I was hired to serve as a Catholic school teacher years ago, and now I cannot imagine not teaching in a school rooted in my faith. There is no better feeling in the world than to seve others the way that God calls us to do in our Catholic education ministry.

I received my California Teaching Credential and married my high school sweetheart seventeen years ago. We live aboard our boat with our son and daughter, Braedon and Trevor-Kane.

When I am not cruising on our sailboat, I can probably be found racing sialboats up and down the Califonia coast, spending time with my family and friends, or reading a good book. I look forward to meeting and getting to know each of you, but most of all I look forward to working hard to impart my great love of literature, learning, and Catholic faith to your children.

Together In Faith,
Mrs. Christina Baum

Seventh Grade

Welcome to Seventh Grade at Saint Paschal Baylon School!

Shakespeare playDuring the year, we perform two plays: A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and As You Like It by William Shakespeare. We also attend field trips to see Romeo and Juliet and visit The Getty Center.

Seventh Grade students look forward to this grade level at SPBS, as they are now able to participate on the “A” level athletic teams, through the Valley Catholic School Sports League. And they can finally qualify to purchase and wear our custom-designed SPBS Varsity Jackets!

Junior High boys wearing SPBS varsity jacketsOur curriculum is guided by the State of California Standards and the Los Angeles Archdiocese Department of Catholic Schools. For students who qualify, we offer Accelerated Classes in both Math and Literature.

In addition, we have students who serve on our Student Council, along with enrichment classes in computer skills, music, art and library science.

Seventh grade is a great year for students at SPBS!
