Meet Our Faculty
Ms. Kathleen Ruse, Homeroom
Math 6th-8th, Science 6th-7th
Dear Saint Paschal Families and Students,
I am honored and excited to become a member of your school community.
My name is Ms. Kathleen Ruse. I am a resident of Westlake Village and have been an educator for over twenty years, the last ten years with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Prior to that, I taught Physical Science and Biology at Westlake High School. My Teaching degree focus is in Junior High and Secondary Education (grades 6-12), with a minor in Biology and Chemistry.
I came to California via a research and development school (associated with Brown University) from the state of Florida. I have written curriculum lessons for both Broward and Palm Beach counties - creativity in the classroom I believe is an essential component to the learning environment. My curricular specialty is Science, however, I have taught junior high Math and currently tutor high school and eighth grade Math to private school students.
I come equipped with years of Math and Science teaching experience, organizational skills, good classroom management, humor, and determination to create a classroom where Math and Science come alive for all of my sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students at SPBS.
As a lector, Eucharistic minister, and also a former Religion teacher, I look forward to sharing in the Cathoilc faith-filled environment of St. Paschal Baylon School, as that special feeling was the gift I first felt, which opened your doors and invited me in - Thank You.
God Bless,
Ms Kathleen Ruse
Mrs. Michele Andrews,
Junior High Aide
Sixth Grade

The
highlight of Sixth Grade at Saint Paschal Baylon School is
going to Outdoor School at Rancho
Alegre. It consists of
a wonderful week in the mountains above Santa Barbara with
three other Catholic schools! While we are there, we learn
about Earth Science in a fun and hands-on way.

In our hiking groups we learn about plants, animals, geology,
and the Chumash Indians. We also hike at night without flashlights
and even go on a “Trust Walk”. Most of our class
goes on the nine-mile ridge hike, and we are always very proud
of them!
Outdoor School is one of the best parts of Sixth Grade at
St. Paschal’s.
In Sixth Grade we also begin our SPBS Junior High departmentalized
program. Students who qualify are provided Accelerated classes
in Literature and Math.
To help reinforce our art appreciation and social studies curriculum,
the class visits the newly renovated Getty
Villa in Pacific Palisades.
This is the year we are assigned our first lockers, and we are
able to participate in the Junior High retreat program. It is
great to finally be a part of our Junior High here at Saint Paschal
Baylon School!
