Third Grade

Welcome to St. Paschal Baylon School’s Third Grade.
The Third Grade is an exciting and transitional year filled
with fun and challenging new things. Third Grade students
begin cursive, multiplication and division. Third grade is a
time when students prepare to leave behind the primary grades
and step forth into the intermediate grades.
At St. Paschal Baylon School, Third Grade is also a time for discovering new literature. Together we read several works of fiction including The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary and Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White.
Students also study in-depth the major U.S. landforms
and how Native American cultures lived and adapted within these
landforms. We also recreate several forms of Native American
art, visit the Chumash Interpretive Center, and experience first-hand
how the Chumash utilized the local tide pools.
Third Grade students are exposed to the fine arts when
they attend a live performance at the Thousand
Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.
Our Third Graders grow in their understanding of our Catholic
faith, attend weekly Mass, and even participate in several Masses
throughout the school year.
