Second Grade
August 10, 2009
Dear SPBS Second Grade Families,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Mrs. Diane Ferry. I want you to know that I am honored and thrilled to be a part of the Saint Paschal Baylon faculty. I began teaching in 1987. I fell in love with teaching and knew this is what I am suppose to do with my life. During my teaching career, I have taught every grade level from Kindergarten through seventh grade, however, I have a special affinity for teaching second grade. I have taught both in California and New Jersey. I graduated from CSUN with a BA degree in Psychology. I then received by Teaching Credential from CLU. I do believe that teaching is my calling in life, and I view my job here at SPBS as a true ministry. I love teaching and could not see myself doing anything else.
I have been a parishioner at Saint Paschal Baylon Church since my family moved back to CA from NJ seven years ago. My own two children both made their First Holy Communion and Confirmation here at SPB. My daughter, Samantha, volunteered at Vacation Bible School and was a peer youth minister a couple of years ago, and now she is off to college. My son, Tristan, is in nineth grade. He is a football player and an avid Boy Scout.
I have a wonderful husband, Gene, and we have been married for 20 years. Gene and I were married at St. Jude's Church in Westlake Village, which is the church I attended growing up. I also taught religious education classes there for many years before I had my own children. I am thrilled to share my Catholic faith with my second grade students during their very special "Sacramental Year".
Together in Christ,
Mrs. Diane Ferry

It's all about the Second Grade!
Second Graders at SPBS celebrate their "Sacramental Year."

While preparing to receive First Reconciliation and First Communion, students grow in their Catholic faith with other children in the parish community.
Along
with academics, in February the Second Grade will visit the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza to see "Let's Go Science".
Our "Flat People" travel all over the world and bring back information from different countries and cultures.
In May, the Second Grade students will visit the California Science Center
and IMAX Theater, a wonderful hands-on science experience.
